Sage

Self portrait

Self portrait using various sized ink markers/pens. I wanted to figure out a way to make the hair seem wet and this is what happened. I like how the boldness of the shadows and the open space still makes it seem like dark hair. I used cross hatching and line shading on my face and shirt.

  1. Sage, this is great, is that your tongue sticking out just a little? the hatching with the fine pens is very effective, but try not to outline the edge of a shadow or highlight (as in the line at the edge of the shadow under your mouth). She looks nicely animated and her hair does look wet. Good job.

  2. I love how expressive this portrait is. I have a lot of trouble portraying expression well in portraits, but I think that this is a super effective piece in that way.
