I misread the syllabus and confused portraits and self portraits. The full face self portrait I submitted, I spent more time and used more value. This is more line than value. I spent most of this drawing trying to get the correct shape and proportions. I struggled with the size of her nose on her face and the distance between her eyes.
rethink the mouth the shape is good but the outline flattens it a bit. and despite make up…the upper lip is usually darker than the lower lip because of shadowing. Nose is well done, and also unless you have had some surgery the center of your upper lip will line up perfectly with the center of the bottom of your mouth. Don’t worry about confusing assignments, I really just want you to draw draw draw, figures from life, from photographs from master drawings from sculpture… and then start to develop different ways of approaching the composition.
