Old Masters

I made a reworked drawing/collage of Michelangelo’s sculpture of Moses. I had a magazine with a lot of ocean-related images so I decided to use them and a deep ocean color scheme to create a new image. I used oil pastels on black pastel paper and used photos from the magazine to make his hair and beard – I also replaced the blanket draping over his legs with photos of coral from the magazine. It took about 2.5 hours.

  1. I love how you combined the collage with the drawing! The collage pieces really add to the piece as a whole, but I also like that you didn’t overuse them and made it a great balance of both.
