For my sustained study I went back to one of my old drawings that I thought had good proportion, but was lacking in detail. I outlined the figure with marker and tried shading with a marker for the first time. I also used water with conte crayon for a background and to add some color to the figure. I think the new piece is definitely more interesting. I probably could have done a better job adding crayon to the figure, especially on the legs.
Dan, try to post under your name instead of as uncategorized. The addition of conte crayon is effective, but you sacrificed your subtle line treatment in the first sketch for bold outline with marker. I might have used the marker more sparingly if at all and corrected her proportions a bit (tiny feet). There are places on the body where the watery conte works very effectively, so I would have put it in her hair just a little. But good experimentation, keep going!
