For my final project I looked at the work of Ulrike Lienbacher. I was inspired by her simple line work and her placement of these simple figures on a page of empty space. I ended up drawing three figures whose poses reflected a day at the beach or something of the sort. I’m not sure why I went in this direction, probably because of the summer weather we have been having here. If you look up Ulrike Lienbacher you will see that she incorporates color in fun ways that look sort of like a heat map or like a contamination of color. I attempted this but did not like how it turned out. Instead I decided to put these figures in front of various backgrounds in nature. I kind of liked the idea of the figures looking like they were lounging on a beach but instead the background being much more intense nature scenes than a beach. I am pleased with this, despite how simple it turned out. The figures did not take me too long, maybe a couple hour of sketching different poses until I found ones that I liked and arranging them with different nature cut outs from a magazine.
